Winery
Purchasing a Mornington Peninsula property established in the 1860s by the Hurleys, an Irish settler family, lawyers turned winemakers Kevin Bell and Tricia Byrnes founded Hurley Vineyard in 1998.
Hurley Vineyard are Pinot Noir specialists. They grow the variety across three distinct blocks – Garamond, Lodestone and Hommage – in the cool, even climate of Balnarring on the Mornington Peninsula. The vineyard wraps around the north-east crest of an ancient volcanic hill, where the soils are red brown sandy clay loams dispersed with ironstone. The vines are low yielding, the viticulture is organic and the fruit is hand harvested.
Hurley Vineyard make Pinot Noir that expresses its place with the purity of the peal of a bell. Their single block wines Garamond, Lodestone and Hommage lead. The Estate Pinot Noir is a blend of all three sites.
