Wine
Hurley Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir is a blend of selected barrels of Lodestone, Hommage and Garamond Pinot Noir. Each is made identically, but kept separate until just prior to bottling.
Handpicking begins close to first light. After cooling overnight, the fruit is destemmed into open vats and the intact berries are soaked in their own juice.
Fermentation with wild yeast begins spontaneously and is hand plunged twice a day. The fermented juice then macerates on skins for 5-7 days before it is basket pressed and the free run and pressings are blended.
The wine sees malolactic fermentation and 18-20 months on lees in French oak. After one racking, it is blended and bottled unfiltered. A further six months of ageing follows.
Bright garnet, Hurley Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir has succulent fruit flavours, fine lingering tannins and lively acidity. Cellaring potential is seven years.
