Dr William Thomas Angove founded Angove Family Winemakers in 1886, originally making medicinal wine for his patients. In 2017 the baton passed to siblings Victoria and Richard Angove, the fifth generation in the business.
The winery sources fruit from across South Australia with a focus on McLaren Vale for their top wines. Their Warboys Vineyard at Seaview has vines dating back to the early 1900s. Like most of Angove's vineyards it is certified organic, with inputs minimized in the vineyard and chemical herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers eschewed entirely. Their Vintage House marketing and distribution business in McLaren Vale is dedicated to their small batch wines.
Angove Family Winemakers The Medhyk Shiraz is made with the winery's best parcels of McLaren Vale Shiraz. The Warboys Vineyard wines, made in a Shiraz, Grenache and blend of the two, are also highlights.
