The Medhyk Shiraz

Angove Family Winemakers The Medhyk Shiraz honours Dr William Thomas Angove who in 1886 founded the winery after emigrating from Cornwall in England. Medhyk is Cornish for 'doctor'.

Only the highest quality McLaren Vale fruit makes the grade for The Medhyk. Sites that typically qualify include the Warboys Vineyard surrounding the winery's cellar door, the Swann Block at Blewitt Springs and the Cameron Block at Willunga.

Each parcels is handpicked and vinified separately to enhance the inherent character of its vineyard. Fermentation occurs naturally, with hand plunging and foot treading as necessary.

The separate wines are basket pressed to French oak and cosseted into the estate's cool cellars for 12 months. The best barrels are selected for the final blend, which matures further in oak before bottling.

Dark purple, Angove Family Winemakers The Medhyk Shiraz is full bodied with abundant dark fruit flavours, soft tannins and a long, engaging finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
