Wine
Angove Family Winemakers Warboys Grenache fruit is handpicked from the certified organic Warboys Vineyard at McLaren Vale, planted in 1964.
Over the decades since its planting, the original trellis has deteriorated and the vines have formed the wizened limbs more common to bush vines. The result is more evenly spread fruit and lower yields.
The fruit is chilled and carefully sorted. A natural fermentation occurs with equal portions of whole bunches and destemmed, crushed fruit. Gentle hand plunging occurs twice daily.
As the ferment nears dryness, foot treading is used to crush the whole berries at the bottom of the fermenter, releasing more sugar. The wine macerates on skins for several days before it is basket pressed.
Malolactic fermentation and maturation take place in seasoned French oak puncheons. At bottling there is no fining or filtration.
Bright red purple, Angove Family Winemakers Warboys Grenache has red berry flavours with subtle spice and oak. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
