At the Winery
Winery
In 1996 Robert and Karen Karri-Davies established Cape Grace at the headwaters of the Wilyabrup Valley in Margaret River. The site is where Dr Tom Cullity originally wanted to establish Vasse Felix.
As agronomist Dr John Gladstone recognized in 1965, Margaret River is similar to Bordeaux in France: gravelly loam soils, a Mediterranean maritime climate and plenty of sunshine during the growing season. Surrounded by stands of marri and jarrah trees, Cape Grace manage their vineyard under organic principles. Keeping yields deliberately low, they opt for quality over quantity. In the winery they practice traditional winemaking with the emphasis on minimal intervention.
Cape Grace produce single vineyard wines expressive of their Wilyabrup site. Their leading Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is produced in limited quantities, as is their Reserve Chardonnay.
