Winery
Growing up picking bush vine Grenache for pocket money in his parents' Barossa Valley vineyard, Darryl Catlin fostered a love of winemaking from a young age. In 2013, after a decade honing his skills at Shaw + Smith, he founded Catlin.
Catlin wines are made at Nairne in the Adelaide Hills. Darryl Catlin uses his intimate knowledge of the Adelaide Hills to select fruit from several grower vineyards. He also sources some smaller parcels from the Clare Valley. With a preference for wild yeast ferments, minimal intervention at the winery and small batches, each wine is a representation of where it is grown.
Catlin makes wines with a single vineyard focus. Their leading reds include Black Label Syrah and Sorella Montepulciano, and their leading whites Chardonnay and Grüner Veltliner. Their GB's Rosé is also notable.
