Winery
Jaysen Collins and Dan Standish formed their partnership while working the midnight shift at esteemed Barossa wineries. In 2000, they released their first wine – The Midnight Run Grenache – and Massena was born.
At Massena the focus is on Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro sourced from growers on the north-western edge of the Barossa Valley. The Stonegarden Vineyard on the Barossa's eastern edge adds old vine Riesling to the mix. The winery's own Dadds Block grows alternative varieties including Saperavi and Primitivo. Massena follow sustainable practices in the vineyard and a hands off approach in the winery.
Each wine aims to be an expression of place. Massena's exclusive Verto Shiraz is only made when the vintage conditions really deliver. The single vineyard Stonegarden range includes Grenache and Riesling.
