The Moonlight Run
Wine
Massena The Moonlight Run is a southern Rhône inspired blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro from vineyards across the Barossa Valley. It is the inaugural Massena wine.
The Mataro is a blend of the winery's Dadds Block on the outskirts of Nuriootpa with parcels from Light Pass and Greenock. Old bush vine Grenache from the Barossa foothills and Shiraz from Tanunda and Greenock complete the mix.
The ferments see daily pump overs early on, followed by punching down as fermentation ends to ensure gentle extraction of flavour. Ageing occurs in tank and barrel, then parcels are selected to comprise the final blend.
Crimson red, Massena The Moonlight Run has red berry sweetness with a spicy, savoury profile and firm tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
