Established in 1995 Mayford is the work of winemaker couple Bryan Nicholson and Eleana Anderson. Located near Porepunkah in Victoria, Mayford is framed by mountains in the upper reaches of the Alpine Valleys.

Nestled in a hidden valley with Mount Buffalo looming over it, the shaley hillside dry grown plantings result is low yields, small berries and slow ripening fruit. The katabatic mountain winds moderate daytime temperatures and cool the nights. This unique climate produces grapes with great flavour and tannin development at low sugar levels, retaining aromatic intensity and natural acidity. Sensitive, sustainable vineyard management and traditional winemaking does the rest.

Mayford make handcrafted Tempranillo, Chardonnay and Shiraz that reflect their pristine Alpine provenance. In select years, they also make Ovens Crossing, a beguiling blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet.
