Winery
Peter Rymill, the great grandson of Coonawarra founder John Riddoch, established Rymill Coonawarra with his wife Judy in 1974. Today the winery is owned by a Chinese investor, however little has changed at the vineyard.
The marriage of Coonawarra and Cabernet is a gift from nature. The exceptional meeting of natural elements – the famous terra rossa soils and long, cool ripening season – produce Cabernet Sauvignon with outstanding flavour and structure. It accounts for over half of Rymill's plantings. Other varieties include Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Gewürztraminer. Certified sustainable in the vineyard, Rymill Coonawarra's low impact practices minimize their environmental impact.
Rymill Coonawarra's The Surveyor Cabernet Sauvignon leads, named in tribute to Peter's father John Riddoch Rymill, a distinguished polar explorer. The Maturation and Classic Release wines are next in line.
