White Gravels Hill Shiraz
Wine
Best's White Gravels Hill Shiraz is drawn from the White Gravels Hill Block planted in the early 1990s. It sits above the winery at about 280 metres above sea level.
It is a markedly different block from others around the winery. There is, as the name suggests, white gravels, which lay over granite; the site can be particularly difficult to work due to its free draining nature.
The fruit is open fermented, hand plunged and basket pressed. A portion of stalks in the must adds to the texture and aroma. The wine is bottled with minimal filtration after 12 months in French oak.
Dark garnet, Best's White Gravels Hill Shiraz has spicy red fruit flavours, fresh acidity and a graphite tannin finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
