Wine
Penley Estate Helios Cabernet Sauvignon is named after Helios of Greek mythology, god of the sun. Part of the High Estate range, it is Penley's leading Cabernet Sauvignon.
The grapes are grown on Coonawarra's unique terra rossa soils, a thin band of vivid red earth overlaying soft limestone. Coupled with the region's cold winters and long, cool ripening season, the fruit ripens slowly and fully.
Bunches of small, intensely flavoured grapes are harvested. Following fermentation, the wine matures in new and seasoned French oak barrels for 16 months. It spends an additional six months in stainless steel before bottling.
Deep inky red, Penley Estate Helios Cabernet Sauvignon is powerful yet restrained, with concentrated core of dark fruit flavours and smooth, earthy tannins.
A contemporary Coonawarra Cabernet. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
