Old Vine Pinot Meunier
Wine
Best's Old Vine Pinot Meunier is made from the Miller's Burgundy Vineyard. First planted in 1868, it is one of the oldest surviving Pinot vineyards in the world.
In the early 1970s 11 more rows of Pinot Meunier were replanted next to the original vineyard. The vineyard is predominantly Pinot Meunier with some Pinot Noir. Old Vine Pinot Meunier is picked first at Best's.
The fruit ferments in open vats with hand plunging. The wine is transferred to aged French oak with meticulous care. It is made only in the best vintages; if the fruit does not reach the benchmark it goes to other wines.
Bright crimson, Best's Old Vine Pinot Meunier is light bodied with red fruit flavours layered with spices and framed with silky tannins.
Its rarity attracts a cult following. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
