Tasmania Pinot Noir
Wine
Stargazer Tasmania Pinot Noir sourced from the Palisander Vineyard at Tea Tree in the Coal River Valley, just north of Hobart. The vines, planted in 2002 on brown dermosol soils, are hand harvested.
Typically 25% of the grapes are kept as whole bunches while the remainder are destemmed but not crushed and added as whole berries. After cold soaking, the juice is warmed for wild yeast fermentation.
Pressed just before dryness, the wine is racked off gross lees to new and seasoned French oak barrels. It matures on fine lees in oak prior to blending in tank and further maturation before bottling.
Bright ruby garnet, Stargazer Tasmania Pinot Noir has ample red fruit flavours from start to finish, with silky texture and a fine, lacy tannin structure. Cellaring potential is seven years.
