The Lear Shiraz
Wine
Haselgrove Wines The Lear Shiraz is a carefully curated blend of exceptional blocks of McLaren Vale Shiraz. It draws from various vineyards and microclimates in the winery's portfolio.
Haselgrove lies at the heart of McLaren Vale, a region strongly influenced by its proximity to the ocean. The wine is named after the personification of the sea in Celtic mythology.
The fruit, crushed but not destemmed, is cold soaked for three days under an inert gas cover. It is then open fermented at 22-28°C with plunging three times daily and a gentle pump over at the peak of the ferment.
After eight days on skins, the wine is pressed directly to new and one year old French oak hogsheads for around 18 months of maturation. The very best barrels are selected for the final blend.
Inky garnet, Haselgrove Wines The Lear Shiraz is a structured, full bodied wine offering rich dark fruit flavours, fine grained tannins and length. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
