The Ambassador Shiraz
Wine
Haselgrove Wines The Ambassador Shiraz is sourced from the winery's McLaren Flat vines planted in 1972. They are sited on a very gentle north-westerly aspect in sandy soils.
The fruit, crushed but not destemmed, is cold soaked for three days under an inert gas cover. It is then open fermented with plunging three times a day and a gentle pump over at the peak of the ferment.
After eight days on skins, the wine is pressed to French oak hogsheads to age for 18 months. The barrels are then individually selected to comprise the final blend.
The wine honours brand ambassador Les Burdett. Proceeds from the sale of each individually numbered bottle go to his chosen charity: Variety, the Children's Charity.
Crimson purple, Haselgrove Wines The Ambassador Shiraz offers a full bodied mix of red fruit flavours, elegant tannins and bright acidity. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
