Old Vine Grenache
Wine
Yangarra Estate Old Vine Grenache is made from bush vine blocks planted in 1946. The vines grow at 150 metres above sea level in the weathered sands of the estate vineyard in McLaren Vale.
The handpicked fruit is mechanically sorted, with half crushed and half retained as whole berries. The grapes cold soak until the onset of wild fermentation, followed by a regime of plunging and rack and returns.
The wine matures on lees in seasoned French oak for 10 months prior to blending. No pressings are used. It is bottled without fining, just filtration.
Inky garnet, Yangarra Estate Old Vine Grenache is sumptuous with red berry flavours, trademark tannins and a fine line of acidity. A bargain for the quality. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
