The 12th Man Chardonnay
Wine
Wirra Wirra The 12th Man Chardonnay is named in honour of the winery's second founder, Greg Trott, who dreamed of being in the Australian cricket team, if only to carry the drinks as the 12th man.
It is sourced from the cool climate Adelaide Hills. The grapes are handpicked and whole bunch pressed, with the free run component of the juice transferred to French oak to ferment with wild yeasts.
Partial malolactic fermentation is allowed. Regular lees stirring adds complexity. The wine matures for nine months with the barrels sulphured on lees at various stages to capture bright fruit flavours.
Vibrant green gold, Wirra Wirra The 12th Man Chardonnay has intense stone fruit flavours framed by a bright, crisp acidity and creamy texture. Cellaring potential is seven years.
