Wine
Wirra Wirra RSW Shiraz is drawn from several old vine McLaren Vale sites. It is named after Robert Strangways Wigley, the South Australian eccentric and state cricketer who founded Wirra Wirra in 1894.
Small parcels of fruit are fermented separately to maintain their unique vineyard characters. Each batch is tasted twice daily to decide the precise level of hand plunging and maceration required.
The ferments are basket pressed to French oak barriques to complete malolactic fermentation. Following 18 months of maturation, during which the wine is racked and returned, only the most outstanding barrels are blended.
Deep garnet plum, Wirra Wirra RSW Shiraz is a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz. It combines rich dark fruit flavours and earthy notes with silky tannins. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
