The EWP Reserve Shiraz
Wine
Pikes The EWP Reserve Shiraz is named after the winery's co-founder and patriarch Edgar Walter Pike. It is the leading Pikes Shiraz, made in small quantities.
The wine is comprised of a number of parcels from across the estate vineyard, located on the rolling slopes of Polish Hill River in the Clare Valley.
For fermentation, a small parcel of fruit is included as whole bunches to coax more aromatic and delicate characters into the wine. The remainder is lightly crushed and destemmed.
During vinification there is little winemaking intervention. After 14 months maturing in new and seasoned French oak barrels, the wine is prepared for bottling.
Crimson red, Pikes The EWP Reserve Shiraz is medium to full bodied with a long finish of bright acidity and savoury tannins. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
