Wine
Penfolds 50 Year Old Rare Tawny is produced in collaboration with glass artist Nick Mount. Bottles are individually blown and hand crafted.
Among the many individual components in the wine is the 1915 vintage, which gives the 50 Year Old Rare Tawny a direct connection to the earliest recorded vintage of Penfolds Grandfather Tawny.
The wine is a blend of many varieties that include, but are not limited to, Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and Cabernet. Maturation is in seasoned oak hogsheads for an average of 50 years. Some components are aged further in the original Grandfather Solera.
Deep olive brown, Penfolds 50 Year Old Rare Tawny is silky and luscious with concentrated flavours of mocha, chocolate and fruit cake. The flavours linger on and on in a perfectly balanced finish.
Optimal drinking is immediately upon release.
Wine reviews
Silky and luscious with concentrated flavours of mocha, chocolate and fruit cake.
These flavours evolve and complex into salted plum and savoury spices, lingering on and on in a perfectly balanced fashion.

Packaged in a fancy bottle of which only 330 bottles are produced each year, the NV Series One 50 Year Old Port contains a minimum, average blended age of 50 years.
Designed to be drunk within 12 months, this beautiful amber-brown wine exudes lovely walnut, molasses and toffee-laced aromas that are further embellished with an intriguing rancio character so complex it conjures the aromatic equivalent of a caramel-drizzled fruit cake.
Incredibly rich, concentrated and multi-layered, there is abundant dried fruit and spice lifted by vibrant and refreshing acid to a very long finish. It is very much like a great Oloroso sherry. Drink it now.
