Wine
Mount Majura Vineyard Tempranillo is the winery's signature, a blend of three distinct sites within their Canberra District vineyard: Rock Block, Little Dam and Dry Spur.
The vineyard has a continental climate similar to the leading Spanish regions where the Tempranillo variety originates. Large differences in temperature between day and night, summer and winter, make it particularly well suited.
The fruit is handpicked and given several days of pre-ferment maceration. It is then wild fermented in hand plunged open vats. Following up to 10 days of post-ferment maceration, the wine is pressed.
Maturation takes place in French oak, a small proportion new. After blending, the wine is bottled unfined with only light filtration.
Red purple, Mount Majura Vineyard Tempranillo has dark fruit flavours dusted with savoury notes, firm but fine tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
