Reserve Shiraz
Wine
Moppity Vineyards Reserve Shiraz is made with hand selected parcels of old vine Shiraz, grown across eight low yielding vineyard blocks.
Planted in the 1970s at 600 metres altitude, the site is among the oldest and highest in the Hilltops region. The vines are leaf plucked, shoot thinned and crop thinned to ensure concentrated fruit.
The Shiraz grapes – including one third kept as whole bunches – are cold soaked for five days. In the style of wines from Côte Rôtie in northern Rhône, a small portion of Viognier is added and the varieties are fermented together.
Temperature controlled co-fermentation lasts for 14 days. The wine is then aged in new and seasoned French oak barrels for 12 months prior to bottling.
Dark purple red, Moppity Vineyards Reserve Shiraz is brightly perfumed with an array of red forest fruits, spice and well integrated oak. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
