Wine
Ministry of Clouds Tasmania Chardonnay is primarily sourced from one of Tasmania's pioneering vineyards, planted in 1979 on the region's east coast.
The wine aims to embody the deeply cool and remote conditions of its vineyard. Low yielding vines produce the tight acid line synonymous with Tasmanian Chardonnay.
All the fruit is handpicked and whole bunch pressed to old oak barrels for fermentation. Post ferment, the barrels are sulphured to prevent malolactic fermentation and retain natural acidity.
Early in maturation the lees are lightly stirred, building texture and complexity in the wine. Maturation typically lasts for 11 months.
Pale straw, Ministry of Clouds Tasmania Chardonnay has a core of intense stone fruit with chalky minerality and lingering acidity. Cellaring potential is five years.
