McLaren Vale Tempranillo Grenache
Wine
Ministry of Clouds McLaren Vale Tempranillo Grenache blends Tempranillo from cool sites in Blewitt Springs and the McLaren Flat foothills with Grenache is from old bush vines.
The wine is inspired by the town of San Sebastian in northern Spain, a springboard to the La Rioja wine region which is known for blends of this type.
Tempranillo makes up the lion's share. Some of it is kept as whole bunches; the balance is carefully destemmed to ensure the berries remain whole. This variety undergoes a traditional open ferment.
Destemmed Grenache fruit is fermented in large open vats, pumped over daily. After basket pressing the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks, seasoned French oak barrels and a large oak foudre.
Dense crimson, Ministry of Clouds McLaren Vale Tempranillo Grenache is medium bodied with lithe red fruits and savoury tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
