Wine

Marchand & Burch Mount Barrow Pinot Noir is sourced from a single vineyard reaching up to 380 metres elevation. Its ancient soils are shallow and light structured.

The fruit is a blend of Pinot Noir clones, each vinified separately. It is handpicked and cooled in vented crates, then sorted by hand.

Most of the grapes are destemmed into open fermenters, with a portion left as whole bunches to build structure. During the ferment, gentle pneumatic plunging extracts flavour, colour and tannin.

Some parcels are pressed early, completing fermentation in oak to retain bright fruit notes. The remainder ferments to dryness on skins to soften the tannins. Each parcel is basket pressed and allowed to settle before decanting to French oak.

The wine matures on lees for 6-9. After blending, it receives minimal fining and no filtration before bottling.

Bright cherry red, Marchand & Burch Mount Barrow Pinot Noir has intricate layers of berry fruits, silky oak tannins and refreshing acidity. Cellaring potential is seven years.
