Botrytis Riesling
Wine
Heggies Vineyard Botrytis Riesling comes from a vineyard parcel that almost chooses itself: a gently sloping site sheltered by trees on three sides and bordered by a dam.
These vineyard factors lead to still, humid conditions and morning fog that is perfect for the development of Botrytis cinerea, which concentrates the sugars in the grapes.
The fruit is carefully hand harvested to retain as many of the precious Botrytised berries as possible. The grapes are then whole bunch pressed followed by a cool, even fermentation to retain freshness and fruit purity in the wine.
Pale golden green, Heggies Vineyard Botrytis Riesling balances dried citrus and stone fruit notes with waxy texture and a fine seam of acidity. Cellaring potential is five years.
