Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir
Wine
Garagiste Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir is named after the French word meaning 'the apprentice'.
Unlike Garagiste's other wines, which are single vineyard, Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir is sourced from Mornington Peninsula vineyards at Balnarring, Tuerong and Merricks.
The fruit is fermented in small open fermenters with wild yeasts. Hand plunging is kept to a minimum. Depending on the vintage, some parcels ferment as whole bunches.
After three weeks on skins, the wine is transferred to predominantly seasoned French oak for 10 months of maturation. There is no fining or filtering.
Bright crimson, Garagiste Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir has poised acidity, fine textured tannins and a curt finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
