Artus Chardonnay

Domaine Naturaliste Artus Chardonnay is sourced from the estate vineyard at the cool southern end of Margaret River. Artus, Latin for ‘close fitted’, artistically translates the local Gin Gin clone into wine.

The vines are managed with a precise canopy architecture that allows dappled light and breezes into the grapes.

The fruit is handpicked at first light to preserve its freshness. The grapes are pressed as whole clusters. The cloudy juice begins fermentation spontaneously in one third new French oak barrels.

The wild yeasts, full malolactic fermentation and maturation sur lie (on lees) for 10 months allow the wine to stamp its own style.

Straw green, Domaine Naturaliste Artus Chardonnay is bright and pure with natural acidity around a citrus core. A provocative, complex and textural wine. Cellaring potential is seven years.
