Wine
Dawson James Chardonnay is grown in the Meadowbank Vineyard in the upper Derwent Valley in southern Tasmania. It is a blend of two Chardonnay clones, the first planted in 1989, the second in 2000.
Whole bunch pressed, the juice settles before it is transferred to French oak for primary fermentation. Malolactic fermentation follows. The wine remains on lees with fortnightly stirring for 10 months before bottling.
Light yellow, Dawson James Chardonnay has intense citrus flavours, lively acidity and finely wound mineral character. It finishes with both power and delicacy. Cellaring potential is six years.
