Wine

d'Arenberg The Coppermine Road is made from an almost extinct clone of Cabernet Sauvignon known for its extremely low yields. It is named for the road that runs parallel to the McLaren Vale winery.

Small batches of fruit are gently crushed and transferred to open fermenters. The batches remain separate until final blending. Foot treading is undertaken two thirds of the way through fermentation.

The wine is basket pressed to new and seasoned French and American oak to complete the ferment and age on lees for 18 months. There is no racking until final blending, and no fining or filtration.

Dark garnet, d'Arenberg The Coppermine Road has red fruit flavours, spicy acidity and ripples of fine, chalky tannins. Elegant, yet brutish. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
