The Amaranthine Shiraz
Wine
d'Arenberg The Amaranthine Shiraz is grown in an estate Shiraz vineyard in McLaren Vale planted in 1968. The wine is named Amaranthine for its similar colouring to amaranth flowers.
Small batches of grapes are gently crushed and transferred to open fermenters. The batches remain separate until final blending. Foot treading is undertaken two thirds of the way through fermentation.
The wine is basket pressed to new and seasoned French and American oak to complete fermentation. It ages on lees for 20 months. There is no racking until final blending, and no fining or filtration.
Deep purple red, d'Arenberg The Amaranthine Shiraz has dark fruit flavours, earthy notes and solid tannins delivering a long, cedary finish. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
