The Curly Pinot Noir
Wine
Curly Flat The Curly Pinot Noir is a special release. It is a different expression of the estate Pinot Noir. Made from the same Macedon Ranges fruit, The Curly wines differ in the winemaking.
The wines are not reserve wines, rather limited production wines. The Curly badge carries a price premium, allied with smaller lot production and the use of 100 per cent new French oak barrels.
The Curly range reflects the winery's ongoing experimentation with its vineyard. The first The Curly Pinot Noir in 2010 was inspired by Domaine Dujac, a Burgundy producer owned by the Seysses family.
The fruit is whole bunch barrel fermented with mostly wild yeasts. The wine matures for 20 months in new French oak with malolactic fermentation decided by vintage. Only the best barrels are selected.
Dark garnet, Curly Flat The Curly Pinot Noir has enticing red cherry flavours. Its tannins – from fruit, stem and French oak – merge, drawn into a lasting finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
