Mistress Block Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Brokenwood Mistress Block Vineyard Shiraz is made from estate vines planted in 1965, and under Brokenwood's management since the late 1980s.
The vineyard's dark loam soils absorb the midday heat and are in shade for the latter part of the afternoon. The dark loam soils produce a denser wine than the clay Graveyard Vineyard soils.
The fruit is handpicked and cold soaked before a 4-5 day ferment. The oak regime for the wine is new and seasoned French oak, producing ripe tannins giving the wine a sensual texture.
Deep purple, Brokenwood Mistress Block Vineyard Shiraz is medium bodied, with earthy plum flavours and perfectly weighted oak.
An outstanding Hunter Valley Shiraz. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
