ILR Reserve Semillon
Wine
Brokenwood ILR Reserve Semillon is estate grown. It is named after winemaker Iain Leslie Riggs, the driving force behind Brokenwood extending its range to white wines.
The fruit is harvested by hand, crushed, chilled and pressed immediately. Natural yeasts are used for fermentation. There is no oak used, only stainless steel, and no malolactic ferment.
The Hunter Valley is famous for Semillon production. Each vintage the very best grape parcels are selected for ILR. Several reserve wines are made and put down. After cellaring, only the finest are chosen for ILR.
The wine is released at six years of bottle age. It has some bottle development but is capable of ageing further; a distant future beckons.
Pale straw green, Brokenwood ILR Reserve Semillon has lively citrus pith, superb zesty acidity and perfect balance.
An outstanding Hunter Valley Semillon. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
