Thomson Family Shiraz
Wine
Best's Thomson Family Shiraz was created in 1993 to celebrate the centenary of the Thomson family settling in Great Western. It is made in small quantities and only in exceptional years.
Best's experience with Shiraz has a long history. Thomson Family Shiraz is made from 15 rows of 1868 Shiraz vines originally planted by Henry Best. Recognized by the CSIRO, today the clone is known as the Concongella clone.
Thomson Family Shiraz is hand harvested, hand plunged and fermented in small open fermenters. The wine matures in new and seasoned French oak for 18-24 months.
Inky garnet, Best's Thomson Family Shiraz has plush dark fruit flavours, a core of seamless fine tannins, and a lasting finish.
Acclaimed as one of Australia's great Shirazes. Cellaring potential is 25 years.
