Jarrah Shiraz
Wine
Alkoomi Jarrah Shiraz is made with careful selections from the winery's oldest Shiraz vines. They grow in the cool climate and gravelly soils of Frankland River, well suited to producing intense, structured wines.
Like each wine in Alkoomi's Icon range, Jarrah Shiraz is named after a variety of eucalypt. It is made in small volumes, in only the finest vintages.
The grapes are traditionally fermented in small open vessels, hand plunged 3-4 times daily. Following extended skin contact, the wine is pressed off skins and transferred to one third new French oak.
The wine matures for 20 months in barrel, undergoing malolactic fermentation during this time.
Deep crimson purple, Alkoomi Jarrah Shiraz has vibrant, peppery dark fruit flavours and a core of ripe, chewy tannins. The finish is long and supple. Cellaring potential is eight years.
