The Cruth Shiraz
Wine
Haselgrove Wines The Cruth Shiraz is the winery's top tier Shiraz. It blends fruit from Haselgrove's mature Shiraz blocks at McLaren Flat with fruit from a site in Blewitt Springs.
Each vineyard parcel is vinified and matured separately. The fruit is crushed but not destemmed and open fermented with a mix of cultured yeasts.
The ferments are plunged twice daily, with air used to rumble the cap of grape skins at peak ferment. After 14 days on skins, the wine is pressed to new and 1-2 year old French oak hogsheads.
Eighteen months of maturation follow. Barrels are then individually selected for the final blend.
Inky red, Haselgrove Wines The Cruth Shiraz is full bodied with lush layers of dark fruit flavours, structural tannins and a silky texture. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
