Original Blend

Wirra Wirra Original Blend combines Grenache and Shiraz from growers in McLaren Flat and Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. The varieties are picked and processed separately.

During fermentation, the juice is hand plunged or pumped over 2-4 times daily. This extracts colour and flavour as well as tempering the heat of the ferments. Near the end, the ferments are worked just enough to keep the cap of grape skins moist.

The wine is then pressed for malolactic fermentation and maturation in either tank or seasoned French oak barrels. After 10 months the Grenache and Shiraz components are blended.

Deep purple, Wirra Wirra Original Blend is medium bodied with a generous fruit core, silky tannins and a fine texture. Cellaring potential is five years.
