Ironstone Barrels The Tyre Fitter Syrah
Wine
Sidewood Ironstone Barrels The Tyre Fitter Syrah is a single site, single clone wine from estate plantings along Ironstone Road at Echunga in the Adelaide Hills.
The flinty, iron rich, free draining soils of the site are perfectly suited to cool climate Shiraz, or Syrah. The vines are carefully managed to produce low yields of quality fruit.
The fruit is handpicked and fermented with partial whole bunch inclusion. After extended maceration on skins, the wine matures for 12 months in new and seasoned French oak.
The wine honours Basil Winterbourn, father of Sidewood co-founder Cassandra Inglis. He owned the world's largest tyre services operation for the mining industry.
Dark red, Sidewood Ironstone Barrels The Tyre Fitter Syrah has red fruit flavours with spice, chalky tannins and a smooth finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
