Central Pinot Noir
Wine
Curly Flat Central Pinot Noir, like its sibling Western Pinot Noir, highlights the striking contrast between the different sections of the winery’s Macedon Ranges site.
The Central Block is home to Curly Flat's oldest vines, planted in 1992 to MV6 clone Pinot Noir. It lies on a northerly aspect, in four million year old deep red volcanic soils.
While most of the fruit is destemmed, there is significant (about one third) whole bunch inclusion. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts, several weeks on skins follow.
For maturation, the wine is transferred to new and second fill barrels. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally. There is no fining or filtration prior to bottling.
Dark red purple, Curly Flat Central Pinot Noir has red and black fruit flavours, a savoury framework and robust tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
