Kangarilla Grenache
Wine
Clarendon Hills Kangarilla Grenache is sourced from an old McLaren Vale vineyard planted in the township of Kangarilla in 1945. It is the winery's lowest altitude site.
Though once trellised, the vines now grow as they please. The clay in the soil retains moisture keeping the vineyard fresh during warmer years and yielding fruit with high natural acidity.
The grapes are destemmed and fermented with wild yeasts. The wine, with all its pressings, is then aged in 1-5 year old oak French oak barrels for 18 months. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Dark purple, Clarendon Hills Kangarilla Grenache is medium to full bodied with dense fruit flavours and powerful tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
