Western Pinot Noir
Wine
Curly Flat Western Pinot Noir, like its sibling Central Pinot Noir, highlights the striking contrast between the different sections of the winery’s Macedon Ranges site.
The Western Block sits on the western boundary of Curly Flat, but falls across an easterly slope. Sheltered from the afternoon sun, it produces the coolest parcels of Pinot Noir.
While most of the fruit is destemmed, a small portion is included as whole bunches. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts, several weeks on skins follow.
The wine in sent to second and third fill barrels to mature. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally. There is no fining or filtration before bottling.
Deep red purple, Curly Flat Western Pinot Noir has delicate fragrance but powerful fruit flavours, and supple talc like tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
