Wyjup Collection Shiraz
Wine
Plantagenet Wyjup Collection Shiraz is made with select parcels of fruit from the Bouverie and Wyjup Vineyards, first planted in 1968 and 1971 respectively.
The fruit is destemmed, chilled and transferred to open fermenters for cold soaking. The juice is allowed to warm naturally prior to inoculation with a cultured yeast strain.
During fermentation on skins, the wine is hand plunged and pumped over twice a day. It is then pressed to tank and racked to new and seasoned French oak barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and maturation.
After 18 months, the individual barrels are blended and the wine is filtered and bottled.
Red purple, Plantagenet Wyjup Collection Shiraz has rich layers of red and blue fruits, Christmas cake spice and firm tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
