S.R.S. Wallcliffe Syrah
Wine
Flametree S.R.S. Wallcliffe Syrah is grown at the Chapman Grove Vineyard in Wallcliffe. The southern aspect protects the grapes from the harsh afternoon heat.
Most of the fruit is machine harvested and tipped straight into open fermenters as whole berries, while some is added as whole bunches. Select ferments have sun dried grape stems placed at the bottom. These variations add complexity.
Wild yeast fermentation begins after a short cold soak. Post ferment, the wine is pressed from its skins and aged in new and seasoned French oak barrels.
Dark purple, Flametree S.R.S. Wallcliffe Syrah is medium bodied with an elegant dark fruit core and spicy oak tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
