Alpha Crucis Old Vine Grenache
Wine
Chalk Hill Alpha Crucis Old Vine Grenache draws predominantly from vines planted in the 1920s at Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. The balance is from 1960s vines at Seaview.
The fruit is handpicked. A small portion is included as whole bunches for fermentation. Maturation is in seasoned French oak barrels, ensuring the fruit is the dominant flavour of the wine. It is bottled after 11 months.
Bright red, Chalk Hill Alpha Crucis Old Vine Grenache is medium bodied with pure fruit flavours and spicy, earthy hints leading to a long finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
