McLaren Vale Shiraz
Wine
Leconfield McLaren Vale Shiraz is sourced from the winery's Farm Block just south of McLaren Vale. The black loam soils over clay limit yields and encourage small, richly flavoured berries.
The fruit is harvested at night to take advantage of the naturally cool temperatures. It is destemmed and fermented on skins for 7-10 days.
After extended maceration on skins, the wine is pressed and aged in a mix of new and seasoned oak barrels. Most of the oak is French, though in some vintages a small portion of American oak is used.
Deep scarlet red, Leconfield McLaren Vale Shiraz is full bodied with ripe dark fruit flavours, long, fine tannins and soft, round acidity. Cellaring potential is eight years.
