Col Cross Single Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Haselgrove Wines Col Cross Single Vineyard Shiraz draws from a block of old vine McLaren Vale Shiraz. Its shallow soils over limestone bedrock and gentle sea breezes consistently produce exceptional fruit.
The grapes are crushed but not destemmed into open fermenters, where they are cold soaked under an inert gas cover. Fermentation occurs at 22-28°C with a gentle pump over in the first few days, then twice daily plunging.
After eight days on skins the wine is pressed to French oak hogsheads, both new and 1-2 years old. It matures for 18 months before barrels are individually selected for the final blend.
Inky red, Haselgrove Wines Col Cross Single Vineyard Shiraz has generous dark fruit flavours with spicy old vine complexity and a long, structural finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
