Original Block Pinot Noir
Wine
Eastern Peake Original Block Pinot Noir is crafted with fruit from the estate vineyard at Coghills Creek in Ballarat. The vines, planted in 1983, grow in grey weathered basalt soils.
A minimal intervention approach prevails in the winery. MV6 clone Pinot Noir fruit is open fermented with wild yeasts, with a small portion included as whole bunches.
After several weeks resting on skins, the wine is pressed to seasoned oak barrels. Here it undergoes natural malolactic fermentation and matures for around one year. The wine is then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Ruby red, Eastern Peake Original Block Pinot Noir combines sweet berry flavours, fine savoury tannins and lingering spice. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
